Hi john, First off I attended your class in seattle and am loving the rose pattern. It was exactly what I’ve been looking for dimensional coloring! Thank you!!! I have a question on decolorizing.I went to one goldwell class that said to use a color remover first then to use blonding cream afterwards to remove even more pigment. Then my boss went to another class and that instructor told her to do the blonding cream FIRST then the color remover…So were just wondering which one is correct or if both are and when to use which? I really respect your work and would love to hear what you think. Thank you so much!!! Hannah Bradley from Au Salon in Portland, OR
Hey there! I am so happy you love the "Folliage" technique! There are many more from where that came from!
But back to the question....LOL!
Both options will work, though with the thoughts that the blonding cream reduces the artificial pigment as well as lighten the natural, and the System Color Remover only works on the Oxidative pigment, I like to work the System product first to clean the canvas and actually see what is happening in the hair while not changing the natural hair until needed. Why make the work harder on yourself? Then instead of the suggested 10vol. application after the System tool, that's when I like to cleanse and take the oxidative pigments further with the blonding cream mixture to only the hair that has been color treated in the past and never run into "hot root" on the natural hair. Allow to sit a few to 10 mins. You will see the pigments readjusting, so don't rinse too soon let it cleanse the artificial colors as much as possible.
Again, neither is right nor wrong, it just makes most sense to me to utilize the tools and eliminate a step (10vol app.) while cleansing the canvas further!
Hit me up any time!
Happy Coloring!
