Hi John! I had the pleasure of taking a class from you last year here in the Mile High City. I have a toning-issue that I can’t seem to resolve. this is probably a pretty basic question but since I’m still relatively young to the business I’m going to ask; I have some clients who are a warm level 6 (think 6N+GG or 6Nbp)…..when I try to hilight them to a nice 8-level (I use 20Vol Gentle Silklift, because 40Vol Blonding Cream Ash doesn’t get them light enough) the hilights come up a very warm 8-level (on the edge of Blorange). I struggle with toning them to a nice 8-carmely color (think 8GB ) because every time I try to do this it still comes out too gold/orange. I’ve tried 8SB but that just mutes everything back down to brown…..which is not what I want. Any ideas? How should I think about this in my head?
You are on the right track of thinking for sure! Though when lifting in the high lights, remember that Silk Lift has such great protein properties. Simply switch the gentle to strong for more lift without damage, and you will get out of the "bl- orange" zone!!
Hope this helps and chat me up w the results!
J
