Hi John, I have a client who went pre-maturely grey at the age of 16 (hereditary) and is now 47 She is fair skinned with a reddish complexion and blue eyes, with curly fine hair. I have recently been using Goldwell 7N in the Topchic, having tried other combinations of 7B which brings out too much red and recently put some blond highlights in but it washes her out and fried her hair. She is 100% white not grey. What shade/ color combination would you suggest that isn’t high maintenance for this client? she talks about wanting to go natural as she is tired of coming in every 3 weeks for touch ups. Would love to send her to you to do your magic but would settle for your advice which I value. Thanks John and looking forward to your reply

Whew! You have been working hard! LOL!
OK, first lets think about why the "red" is happening. At the 7 level coupled with an N, think about what is happening at a 7 level and what tones will contribute. The 7 level in comparison to the white is "bluer and redder" than the white, and the N is a cool tone that is also contributing to the red and the blue. A better coverage and tone would be maybe a formula like 30mls 20vol 15mls 7N,10mls 7NA,5mls7GB. This will create a neutral cool shade and work on this clients skin, though have you tried the new Goldwell TriFlectives? A formula like 30mls 20vol,30mls7NBP would be all you need. With the client needing a low maintenance effect, this genious tool allows you to have coverage yet more reflection so the grow in is softer since the result is not so opaque. As well as this will work great with her skin!
Let me know how it works, and Hit me up any time!
Happy Coloring!
